Naples, FL Acupuncturist Charged With Over $22,000 Insurance Fraud

Dr. Sebiha Ozturk, 30, of Naples Acupuncture and Health Clinic, was arrested on charges of allegedly billing Safeco Insurance Company over $17,000, and State Farm Fire and Casualty Company over $5,000, for acupuncture treatments that were never performed.  If Dr. Ozturk is convicted, she could face up to seven years in prison.

The arrest came as a result of a Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Insurance Fraud investigation which revealed that in at least one of the claims, an employee reported that a patient wasn’t even in town to receive treatment when treatment was billed to an auto insurer.

Under the 2012 amended Florida No-Fault law, acupuncturists are not eligible to receive PIP benefits.
